How we are surviving the recession

Recession woes

2020 was murky… Coming out of Covid we thought the only way from there was up… but the world held more surprises.

The cost of almost everything is skyrocketing while our income remains the same if not less in some circumstances.

If you’re good and even wondering what recession we are talking about then this is not for you… However, if you’re there wondering how to make your money last longer than the month then read on.

Here are 3 things we are doing to help us stretch out our money. You could try one today and see if it works for you

  1. Buy in bulk- This might cost a pretty penny at first but will be worth it in the long run. If unable to do so by yourself then get together with friends, order together then split the items. There’s a number of wholesale shops and recommendations online but please do your due diligence first
  2. Make food at home as opposed to eating out or ordering online daily. The costs add up. If you cannot cook for the life of you, there are ladies (and men) who provide the service. They will cook in bulk and you can have these refrigerated in meal size portions to last a week at a time. Plus side is you can then make them healthier and more balanced :-)
  3. Start tracking your expenses today and see where the unnecessary expenses are. This will have a 2-fold impact. One, you become more conscious before spending because you’ll need to track it. It will make you think twice before spending on impulse. And two, you will notice the run away expenses that are unnecessary and how they build up over time. There’s a lot of free apps online that can help you track daily if you build up the habit

We know we sound like the scrooge but this will not last forever. It’s to help us get to the other side. Who knows, the habits might just stick and we might be the better for it.

Bonus point:

You can only cut out expenses to a limit. The most ideal is to try and increase your income. We know its not easy but we shall explore different options available in the next post. However, you know yourself and your strengths best so start thinking around what you can do that can help bring in extra cash.

Until then, happy to hear how you are surviving these crazy days we are living.
